I have made my motion picture directing debut!!!! [19 Feb 2006|08:40pm]

Ok yeah it's not some multi million dollar epic that's gonna sweep the oscars. And it wasn't even on film, just mini DV. But the pictures did move. and I wrote the script and directed my actors and I even had a director of photography. And much fun was had by all.

What makes this on topic is that my DP and male lead are Browncoats and when ever Candice, my female lead who is not a Browncoat, screwded up, we would yell "SUMMER!" Don't worry we clued her in to the inside joke so she didn't think we were insane. She took it in good humor and rarely screwed up. Much fun.

If anyone wants to see it, I shall find a way of posting it online so you can see it. And rip it to shreds and tell me I'm a hack.

For my film class, we had to take photos to practice framing a shot and put them together in a "self portrait slideshow." I was going to include a buch of Firefly/Serenity images. But then I found out that under no circumstances can we use copyrighted mimagery. So I went with something else. But I figured I had the shots so I'd show them off here. I'm only missing the second Jayne figure, but I figured I'd share what I have now.

The whole thingCollapse )

Everything minus the poster and hanging figuresCollapse )

If You thought the gag reel on the Firefly DVDs was to short [13 Jan 2006|01:00am]

I have found the original much longer version here. It's cut into 4 16 meg Quicktime files. Uncut, uncensored, and a hell of a lot more, much funnier stuff. Unfortunately we don't get any of Nathen yelling out "SUMMER!!!" But alas. Enjoy!!!

Just a reminder that the Serenity DVD comes out Dec 20th. Its available as a pre-order on amazon for around 16 dollars. I dont remember the exact amount. Makes a good holiday gift. Hopefully the DVD sales will help out the overall movie sales.

A couple of things. *spoilers lay ahead but are behind cuts* [23 Oct 2005|02:15am]

I just got back from seeing Serenity for the fourth time. The film gets better every time I see it. But I noticed a couple of things about it,, not bad things, that I hadn't seen before.

Spoilers ho!Collapse )

Just before I went in to the theater, I got a phone call from a friend. Though not the topic of conversation, when I mentioned I was going to see the BDM again she remembered something that happened last night. Apparently she and her mother had gone to a concert at the Granada Theater in Ft. Worth, TX and about 80%-85% of the event staff were wearing Serenity t-shirts. I thought that was pretty damn cool.

And lastly, on the subject of the Browncoat themed MS fundraiser mentioned before:

(Here's the original message behind a cut in case you have no gorram idea what I'm talking about)Collapse )

Firstly, I'd like to say thinks to everyone who has responded. I am humbled, impressed, and thankful for the enthusiasm. I have received nothing but positive responses and a couple of suggestions on how to make it run better. Thank you.

Secondly, I have come up with a name for the thing "Hope & Serenity." "Hope" coming from the little rubber bracelet that the National MS Society (NMSS) does and "Serenity" obviously from the ship and movie and a secondary meaning being the actual name of the word which I think fits perfectly with the feeling hope gives someone. Let me know what you think of it. I'd like a small sub-title to it so if anyone has any ideas, I'm open to suggestions.

Thirdly, I'd like to put up a website for it. Nothing to elaborate or anything, just something that can take donations through PayPal, give info and links to info on MS (that is the primary reason behind this after all), do the same for Firefly (since the secondary reason, albeit a much smaller one, is to spread the Firefly word). I would be willing to pay someone to design it. I can afford much, but I would pay and I would pay any hosting expenses myself. No donation money raised would be used for "administrative costs."

Fourthly (are you getting tired of numbers with "ly" behind them yet), when I got out of the movie tonight, I spoke with the manager of the AMC that I saw it at about getting my hands on the poster hanging in the lobby after the flick leaves. What I was told is that they get as many as 15 that are kept in storage until the film leaves and they are usually thrown away at that time. I asked about getting my hands on one or two, maybe three (understanding of coarse that employees have first dibs), and since I already have one hanging on my wall any that I could get would be sent out to donors (not sure how, still working that out) at the end of this little project. Depending on a few other things that will be addressed in the next (and thankfully, I'm sure, last) item, I'm going to speak with the manager at the Suncoast here, who I have developed a bit of a repoir with, about maybe getting other Firefly/Serenity items donated. Now I must be clear, neither of these, the poster or anything else, is for sure. But I am going to work on it. I would like to be able to give you guys something in return for your kindness. At the very least some kind of t-shirt. At the other end of the spectrum, a chance to win cool Firefly/Serenity swag.

Fifthly (the end!!!), I haven't had a chance to speak with the local NMSS yet (this last week has been hellacious with school and work) but fortunately I have Monday mornings totally off and will be dong it then. Thanks to the very helpful suggestion from talithalucarne, I'm gonna ask if they can set up the account that the donations will go into and also if there is anything else that they can do to help such as getting merch donations and what not. We'll see what they say.

Well I guess that's all for me. I'm off to bed. Laters all

I am a huge Stevie Nicks fan! And last night on the way to dance class I was listing to a Fleetwood Mac Cd and started thinking how much the song "Thrown Down" really relates to Mal and Inara, and there relationship, or lack there of.
What do ya'll think?

Question.... [19 Oct 2005|10:58pm]

Mildly off topic but if ou read the whole thing you will understand why I'm posting here. I have multiple sclerosis. diagnosed this last February. Since then I have become as active as I can be in MS relatedd researach and supposrt charities. So here's what I'd like to do, if anyone in this and other groups are amiable to it. I set up a savings account at my bank and arrange it so that no withdrawals, even from me, can be made for a period of one year. I provide anyone who wishes to help with the account number and/or address to send checks to. I would also contact the National MS Society to provide oversight on this and give anyone who donates the contact info for that organization. And then, after one year, I would send any funds raised to the National MS Society in the name of Firefly, Serenity, and Browncoats everywhere complete with a list of names of everyone who donated anything, should you so wish it. At that time I personally would like to have the funds earmarked for research and support.

Now I do understand if any of you are skidish about this. and I wish I could give more concrete details but it's idea I just came up with right now sitting at the computer. If anyone would like to do this and has any other ideas for how to do in the best most effciant way possible that would make everyone comfortable with it, please feel free to respond to this post or email me at: bobbo1701@hotmail.com or rob.w.morton@gmail.com. Thank you.

Ok I'll tell ya. The Firefly soundtrack. 25 tracks of music from the show by greg Edmunson and the Ballad of Serenity by Joss. It is slated for release on the 8th of December. I know what I'm asking for for Christmas with the Serenity DVD, which I hear is supposed to come out the 20th of December.

For all the UTA Browncoats who had dicussed meeting up at the Parks to see Serenity and anyone else in teh Arlington area, I'll be heading to the Parks at about 11:00ish to pick upp some other Serenity goodies at Suncoast (read: action figures) unfortunately because of work obligations the only showing I can go to is the 1:30. If anyone would care to join me I'd love to see it with other Browncoats. I'll be at or near the AMC well before the show. You'll know me by the fact taht my pic is my LJ icon, just add glasses and a University of Michigan baseball cap, and, assuming it came in the mail today, a Serenity t-shirt. I also stick out because I'll probably be he only 22 year old around having to use a cane. So if anyone would care to join me, I look forward to seeing you there.

Serenity Flash Mob Activity

I am calling all Browncoats in all the large cities to organize a Serenity Flash Mob Activity. Next Thursday oct 13th 5pm. Come Thursday 5pm get every single Browncoat and Serenity fan you can muster to show up. Pass out a ton of flyers walking around the down town area. If its done right it should look like the browncoats are taking over and get a ton of publicity and press. Maybe even tip of the local media as to the activity.

You scored as Kaylee Frye. The Mechanic. You are a natural mechanic, and you are far too sweet and cheerful to live out here. How you can see the good in everyone around you boggles the mind occationally. Still you don't seem to be any crazier than that, and it is a nice kinda crazy.
